Tell us a little more about yourself, Zeina.

My name is Zeina, I’m a mother of 2, and I was born and raised in Lebanon. I started my fashion journey over 25 years ago and I’m still learning and growing.

My name is Zeina, I’m a mother of 2, and I was born and raised in Lebanon. I started my fashion journey over 25 years ago and I’m still learning and growing.

Zeina, what do you really think is fashion?

Fashion is a form of expression.

What are your favorite trends in fashion, both in the past and present?

I have many and I follow many, depending on my mood. Some days I feel like dressing up from head to toe with some bold accessories and high heels, and others I love the casual looks of sweats and sneakers. Personally, following your mood and your state of mind can be the best trend as it screams YOU.

What was your best fashion moment?

I don’t have one specific moment, but a few that stand out. I believe that when you feel most like yourself and dress up in a way that brings out your character and mood, then this is a good fashion moment for me.

How would you describe your personal style?
My style is very diverse. It changes daily and follows my feelings. I love oversized pieces, I love statement pieces with random shapes and cuts, and I love to always add my own twist with the accessories I wear.
Who is your style icon and why?
I love Cher’s style. Maybe because she looks like my mother, and my mom is my first style icon. But everything she wears leaves a mark. She is hard to miss and hard to forget.
What motivates and keeps you inspired as a fashion consultant?
The new generation inspires me with its creativity and vision. The new generation embraces newness, and I find that fascinating.
What aspects of the fashion industry would you like to change?
If I could change anything it would be repetition. We see this very frequently where designers repeat themselves and create pieces in their new collections that we have seen at a point in a previous collection.
What do you look for in the artists you feature on FLTRD?

We always look for diversity and newness. We embrace different personalities, stories, backgrounds, and identities because this is what forms strong communities, which is what FLTRD is all about; a community of creatives.

What’s a major challenge you faced as you were establishing FLTRD? And how did you overcome it?
The fashion industry follows a specific calendar that is season based. The challenges we face mainly revolve around deadlines and deliverables.
What are your next steps?
